Private Sector Steering Committee

A Private Sector Steering Committee was established in July 2013 with the following key functions:

· Act as a platform for building consensus and common position of the private sector

· Act as a vehicle for private sector participation and representation throughout the preparatory process, including in regional review meetings and intergovernmental preparatory committee meetings

· Coordinate and represent private sector input to the zero draft of the outcome document of the conference during the intergovernmental preparatory committee meetings in 2014

Currently, the Steering Committee members are as follows:

  • Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Kenya National Chamber of  Commerce and Industry
  • Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI)
  • Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce
  • African Business Roundtable
  • International Road Transport Union
  • Kenya International Freight and Warehousing Association; Federation of East African Freight Forwarders
  • Nigerian Shippers Council
  • International Chamber of Commerce
  • United Nations Office of the High Representative for LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS

The International Chamber of Commerce is taking the lead in the coordination of the Committee.

Private Sector Steering Committee Survey

A survey has been developed and distributed to steering committee members to collect the perspective of the private sector on pertinent issues faced by LLDCs and transit countries. A draft preliminary synthesis of the feedback from the private sector has been put together by ICC.
