The Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee of the Conference will meet to appraise the implementation of the Almaty Programme of Action and prepare the Outcome Document for consideration and adoption by the Conference. Two two-day sessions of the Committee will be held 12-13 June and 2-3 October 2014 in New York.

First Session of the Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee – 12-13 June 2014

Second Session of the Intergovernmental Preparatory Committee – 2-3 October 2014

Regional Review Meetings

Three regional review meetings on the implementation of the Almaty Programme of Action will take place in 2013. The reviews will undertake assessments of the implementation of the Almaty Programme of Action in the regions, provide an important opportunity for sharing experiences and lessons learned on challenges faced by LLDCs in each region and identify recommendations for appropriate strategies and mechanisms to address these challenges. The outcome of the regional level preparations will feed into the global review process. United Nations Regional Commissions will coordinate the regional reviews, in cooperation with countries and OHRLLS.

National Preparations

Landlocked developing countries will prepare national reviews on the implementation of the Almaty Programme of Action that will serve to enrich the regional and global discussions. Those reports should be prepared in consultation with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including customs, border-crossing administrations, transport service providers, traders, public administrations, parliaments, and the private business community.
